B and G’s is a small restaurant located on Main Street in Schertz. Every morning there’s a brisk trade in tacos and other breakfast items.
I believe the best offerings at the restaurant are the barbecue items. At lunch and dinner, barbecue ribs, brisket and sausage are available. There is also a daily lunch special and some Mexican food entrées. I like the B and G breakfast tacos, and I also like their breakfast omelettes and their biscuits and sausage gravy; all of those are very good. The barbecue is also really good including the brisket as well as the ribs. All of their prices are pretty reasonable.
Recently I went to visit a friend who was home ill and wanted me to bring over a couple of plates from B and G’s. So at her request I picked up her two favorites. One was the barbecue rib plate with sides of potato salad and coleslaw.
As you can see, the ribs are meaty and the portions are generous. The sides were also very good, especially the potato salad. The accompanying barbecue sauce is flavorful and has a little bit of zing to it.
On the other hand to take out enchilada plate didn’t fare as well. Corn tortillas containing shredded cheese and onion were rolled up in the front of the take-out container. There were also refried beans and rice; a small container of chili sauce to pour over the enchiladas was also included.
The enchiladas were dry; this could’ve been because they had to travel a few minutes to get to their destination. The chili sauce was pretty good; the rice and beans, on the other hand, seemed to be pretty bland.
I really do like B and G’s. I am probably not going to order the enchiladas again, but their barbecue and breakfast items will remain favorites.
